"Sun is the sustainer of the Universe, composed of movables and immovable."~Rig Veda
In Sanskrit word surya means ‘sun’ and the word namaskara means ‘worship’ or ‘salutation’. Therefore, this practice is known as salutation to the sun. Surya namaskar is neither an asana nor a part of traditional yoga, it is a dynamic exercise.
- It revitalises the whole body, removes all signs of sleep and is excellent for preparing the body and mind so that the maximum benefits can be derived from the subsequent asanas, pranayamas and so on.
- It can be practiced at almost any time of the day and in any place.
